Emerson has acquired Fort Myers, Florida-based Saftronics Inc., a manufacturer of drives and drives systems for industrial applications.

Saftronics is a leader in a wide range of industries from water and HVAC to mining. Saftronics has assembly locations throughout North America. It becomes a unit of Emerson Industrial Automation and strengthens the drives and drives system portfolio of Emerson's Control Techniques division.

The new CSXi series of compact starters, from Saftronics, combines cost effective motor soft start, bypass and soft stop functions with essential built in motor protection.

The CSXi compact motor starter series, cost effectively, fills the technology gap between standard soft start controllers typically providing only a few user settings and high-end digital controllers that often offer more than 50 settings and complex interface options.

The CSXi, Constant Current system provides both starting and stopping control as well as basic motor protection against malfunctions such as overload, phase sequence and imbalance, motor thermistor, excess start time, shorted SCR and supply faults.

Flexibility of the new CSXi Series enables the user to control eight operating parameters such as current limits, current ramping, stop ramp timing, motor FLC, motor trip class, excess start timing, phase sequence protection, and auxiliary relay functions.

Some of the smallest controllers available, the CSXi Series provides features currently found only in high-end digital controllers. The CSXi controllers are packaged in some of the industries smallest IP20 and IP00 enclosures that will accommodate a broad power range of 18 - 200 amps and and 200 - 575 VAC. Choose from three frame sizes and 11 models to match your specific application with this new controller. Were space is limited; the CSXi will fit in with the largest of the three frames being able to set on sheet of notebook paper.

The CSXi Series includes integral, Run Duty rated, bypass that allows this series to be easily retrofit into switchboards or motor control cubicles without need for extra ventilation or external bypass contactors. Saftronics also offer as standards built packages Nema 12 and Nema 12 with Circuit Breaker or can custom build to your specification.

Even in this small package, full unit monitoring via LED's for status reporting. CSXi has many options available, such as Remote Operator and communications via Modbus RTU, Profibus, and DeviceNet.

Designed to international standards, the CSXi controllers are CE, cUL, UL508, C, CSA and CCC approved.
